You don't have to be a William Gibson or Neuromancer fan to appreciate this Meat Space cross stitch chart, but it would help if you like bacon. Log Lady Decor: Free Twin Peaks Cross Stitch Chart

This week we are revisiting my teens with a visit to Twin Peaks. It is pretty easy for me to imagine this kitschy cross stitch hanging above the toilet in the Log Lady's bathroom. I am not even going to ask you if you get that because it is far too brilliant to justify itself. Just like the Log Lady. That chick KNEW. STUFF.

If  you know someone for whom the owls are not what they seem why not stitch this one up. They'll love you more than cherry pie. Right click and Save As to get the full size chart. Blast from the Past: The Prisoner Cross Stitch Chart Almost Escapes!

Hello peoples! Had a scary moment this morning when it appeared that one of my posts from waaaaay back had disappeared. It had definitely been posted and the opportunity had come up to resurrect it. But when I went to dig it out of the post archives... GONE. And then I remembered I used to post my charts on a personal life sort of blog that I don't use any more. So this is the first time this The Prisoner cross stitch chart has been posted here and it will be new to some of you! I just noticed that the way the stripes are angled make it appear as if it is tilted. But it isn't!

The full size is on google drive for download. Click the pic or HERE!

When we were in Wales this last week I was finally able to make a pilgrimage to what is possibly the biggest living cos-play ever. The Village of Portmeirion in North Wales. If you are not familiar with the kitschy yet deeply subversive cult classic The Prisoner, that used this village for its setting, then you are in for a treat.

If you do watch the show you might think that there is no way a real village like that. That is it all sets. But there really is! And it really looks like it does in the show. The houses are even available to rent for holidays!

This chart was created in 2009 when the creator and star of the show, Patrick McGoohan, died. Surreal and odd, The Prisoner is a chilling allegory of the individual's isolation in the post-human era. A searing indictment of consumerism, conformity, and democracy where the consent of the prescription drugged and media zombiefied masses confers ultimate power.

The colour key is unfortunately missing as the chart was made in a different charting application than I have now. But there not many colours in it and I know you guys are good at substituting what works for you.

Here is the IRL dome in the village of Portmeirion.

It is an amazing place and it is highly recommended that you read about its creation and the architect behind it. Fascinating, fanciful, and full of colour, life and fun. Surely ALL villages should be like this! It was an incredible place to visit.

Lady Geeks Rejoice! Hang This SHA-256 Cross Stitch in Your Cubicle and Never Get Patronised or Mistaken for a PA Ever Again.

Because it is 2013, I have been a highly qualified and able technical professional for over ten years, and this still happens. And it really gets me down sometimes.

Not necessarily on my own behalf but it makes me sad for humanity. That we can't just see humans and not assume anything about the humans we see until we get to know them. I think we have held ourselves back as a species by hundreds of years because we can't hear a voice until we label it and give it a value based on the label rather than what it says.

You can just stitch the silhouette but maybe you know a woman in technology who would appreciate the dark humour.

Sorry peoples. Not so happy today! I am just tired I suppose. There will be a spiffier chart soon and also the newsletter will be coming out next month! Lots of work still to do setting that up.

Hello Sweetie: River Song Cross Stitch Sampler Chart

I was thinking the other day that it had been a long time since I had done a Dr. Who cross stitch chart. And that same day there was a request on the facebook page for a cross stitch chart featuring River Song. And now there is no more Dr. Who until November so here is a Dr. Who cross stitch with a River Song theme to it.

A Very Techy Cross Stitch Chart: System Architects Do It With Class

Hello peoples! There almost wasn't a cross stitch chart this week. Other things have been going on and inspiration has been diverted to other areas. But today at work I was doing quite a lot of tinkering with entity framework diagrams because microsoft visio totally sucks.

Seriously. Who the frick uses Visio for fricking ANYthing? It is possibly the most useless piece of enterprise crap on the market. Like the architects who develop Visio probably don't use it to do their specifications. Or they would know how SHYTE it is. Why does it even exist?

So I thought I would open this up for discussion. What is your day job? Is there a "standard" tool touted for your profession that is actually the worst thing anyone doing that job could use for doing that job?

Also do you have a rather niche calling for which there are few cross stitch charts? Maybe you know someone in an obscure field for whom you would like to stitch something but there just isn't anything out there for them.

Let me know peoples!

Here is some more geekery for you at my zazzle store:

Look at All the Colours! Vintage Pyrex Junkie Cross Stitch Chart

Hello peoples! I have been absent for a couple of weeks but am back with a new free cross stitch chart for you featuring some very vintage Pyrex.

There are worse vices than an uncontrollable urge to scour charity and thrift stores for mid-twentieth century glass baking ware at any given opportunity. Such as the excited little SQUEE that escapes one when confronted with the entire contents of someone's poor recently deceased granny's kitchen cupboards crammed higgledy piggledy on the bargain shelf of the local Sally Anne.

While I celebrate my good fortune there is a little sadness that the someone didn't appreciate how magical these things are. They obviously didn't spend hours in the kitchen with their (most likely) female relative waiting to lick out the bowl or learning to make THEEE BEST chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. They have no memory of the delicious alchemy that such practical and durable objects facilitated.

If you are a vintage Pyrex fan why not check out some of these mugs featuring vintage pyrex-y designs. These will be going down in price as of the 20th of April 2013. Only £12.95! I make about £1.30 on that. I will also be adding some more designs in the near future and you will be able to collect them all.

Oh What Joy! In an Octopus' Garden Cross Stitch Beatles Sampler

Hello peoples! I designed and stitched this chart for a friend of mine a little while ago. It is a Beatles themed cross stitched birth sampler. You see the space there is where you put the name and date or birth. This is one of those rare occasions where I actually did some stitching for once!

It is now available to download at Craftsy.

Down The Hobbit Hole: Bag End Front Door Cross Stitch Chart

Hello peoples! Time for this week's free cross stitch chart. This pattern features a rather famous front door. It's Bag End from The Hobbit.

I was never a huge fan of this book but I do love the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This chart would make a great Christmas tree ornament or a little gift for the Tolkien fan in your life.

There are a couple of advanced features in this one: half cross stitch and french knots. But you don't have to use them if you would rather not. If you have some tiny black or grey beads those would like really cool in the place of the french knots.

Movember? What the Heck Am I Supposed to Do With That?

Are you a human female? Do you suffer from a deficiency in testosterone that renders you unable to grow a mustache? Are you feeling excluded by the facial hair fest that is Movember? The month in which men raise awareness of men's health issues such as prostate and testicular cancer by growing mustaches?

Cancer, even those of exclusively male anatomy, affects EVERYONE. I have a male partner, a dad, a brother, uncles, cousins, and friends who all could be faced with prostate or testicular cancer. So why am I excluded in this effort to raise awareness? Simply because, as a female, I can't grow a mustache.

Bet you never guessed that my soap box was quite so ready to hand.

For some reason it is OK to talk about "saving the boobies" (ugh seriously I thought people would be more concerned with saving lives) but not OK to talk about saving the penises. Which is too bad because I am working on a penis themed sampler. Classy.

If you are a fella grow that 'tache. If you are testosteronically challenged why don't you stitch up this super soup strainer sampler and raffle it off at the end of the month at your office or church or whatever and donate the proceeds to the cancer charity of your choice.

I totally stole this from 157 websites. Really. I needed a picture of a mustache and google images came back with this template that must have been posted by everyone and their mother. I have no idea where it came from originally which makes it pretty much public domain. Plus it's for a good cause. Get over yourself.
